I denne samtalen tar vu00e5r gjestekunster Marshall Trammell med seg utu00f8verne fra sitt verk The Moon Is Down: The Status Quo Is My Enemy for u00e5 snakke om sammensmeltningen mellom lyd og kunst, ideer og aktivisme. Gjennom sitt gjestekunstneroppdrag for Borealis har Marshall latt seg inspirere av den norske motstandsbevegelsen fra 2. verdenskrig, og oversatt ideen om solidaritet og motstand inn i sin lydpraksis, samtidig som han har hentet inn erfaringene til folk som puster og bor i Bergen by. Denne blandingen av historie, musikk og nu00e5tidens levde liv har latt ham plassere arbeidet sitt i en bergensk kontekst, og har gjort verket relevant, her og nu00e5. The Moon Is Down: The Status Quo Is My Enemy som er resultatet av dette arbeidet inkluderer 5 stemmer og perkusjon. Stemmene tilhu00f8rer fem kvinner fra Bergen, som sammen med Marshall har jobbet frem forestillingen, som har premiere pu00e5 festivalen dagen fu00f8r denne samtalen finner sted. Sammen reflekterer de denne ettermiddagen rundt prosessen, og hvordan spru00e5k og motstand kan oversettes inn i en kunstnerisk kontekst.

Join Borealis artist in residence Marshall Trammell and performers from his festival premiere The Moon Is Down: The Status Quo Is My Enemy to discuss the intertwining of sound and performance, ideas and activism. Inspired by the Norwegian WW2 resistance movement,  over his  Artist Residency with the festival Marshall has been translating ideas of solidarity and resistance in to sound practice, drawing on the lived experiences of Bergenser to culturally situate his activist work in Norway. The resulting piece, for 5 voices and percussion, was workshopped and created with five women from Bergen and premieres the day before this conversation takes place. In light of the premiere they take time to reflect on the process and how the language of resistance can be translated in to artistic contexts.
